The easiest way to hack your happiness.
As a follow-up to my post about habits, I wanted to share a bit more into activities that radically improve our sense of well being in life.
Whether you make them your daily/weekly/monthly habits is up to you but it is important that we understand where this mysterious state of mind called happiness originates from.
BREAKING NEWS: The sources of happiness are NOT outside in a magical fairyland or your biggest career advancement. I’m sure you agree that fame, reputation and money don’t bring happiness either.
So, then where is it? How do we access it?
Studies show there are 4 important hormones that are responsible for happiness within us.
Chemically speaking, all of our emotions are just a bunch of pulses fired by neurotransmitters in our body.
Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, and Endorphins are the quartet responsible vastly for your happiness.
Many situations can trigger these neurotransmitters, but instead of being in the passenger seat, there are ways you can intentionally cause them to flow

Below are some ways you can hack happiness into your life. I rank and segment them based on perceived difficulty and effort in achieving. I call them “levels” (in a video game) to keep it simple.
Level 4. Serotonin = produced as a result of achieving significant things in career, legacy etc
Level 3. Oxytocin = produced during intimacy and trust with loved ones (cuddle hormone)
Level 2. Dopamine = produced after winning a challenge, friends and social ranking, confidence
Level 1. Endorphins = produced from thrill/adventure and laughter (yes, even anticipation of laughter produced endorphins!)
But all of these require some physical effort, planning, money (in some cases) and other people’s involvement. Yet there’s another way to hack into your happiness and well being without spending a dime or leaving town for an adventure.
It is the quick stroll inside your mind.
Level 5. Meditation Combo = With meditation, you get a combo pack of chemicals that help to improve your well being. (full list here)
The most incredible thing about meditation is that it is RIDICULOUSLY ACCESSIBLE for any one.
Additionally. there is a sense of pure bliss, clarity and a deep appreciation of life in the calm practice of meditation and it’s effects are still largely underrated to the general public.
If anything, there should be more meditation centers than bars and strip clubs in any given city but hey that’s just my opinion.
