The Purple Cow

Art isn't a joke.

Even if it’s a comedy, art should much more than filling us with laughter.

In any umpteen forms of art, the only art piece that’s worth staying precious forever is the one that inspires an emotion.

Most art we see around us either provides us entertainment or occasionally a new and innovative slice of our own culture.

But art has a value beyond entertainment. It has the power to inspire and simultaneously be inspired.

By no means, art can be just a joke. It should always aim to be something more than that. To stir an emotion, to raise a concern, to educate or to help us imagine more.

Pablo Picasso once said almost a similar thing: “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls." How true!
